Printing Beyond Color - The Potential of Inkjet Technology in General Manufacturing Environments for Printed Electronics

Fir Wednesday, February 26
10:50am to 11:10am

During the development of printing technologies printers gained for many years numerous valuable competencies that enable them to extend their range of products in a field of applications with functionalities of the inks beyond the traditional color. Printing functional inks cleverly on top of each other, it becomes possible to manufacture multi-layer material stacks representing properties of active electronic circuitries. The presentation focusses on the progress in the development of ink-jet technologies dedicated to manufacturing functional layers for circuitry on flat and 3D surfaces and will debate manufacturing technique as well as application-oriented examples of printed electronics. Furthermore, the advantages of digital printing as a general manufacturing technology addressing the batch size 1 will be discussed as an opportunity to individualize mass products.
