Richard Price

Richard is co-founder and CTO at Pragmatic Semiconductor – the global pioneer in flexible integrated circuits. With more than 200 employees based out of Cambridge (UK), Pragmatic has raised over $200M in equity funding. Pragmatic provides a unique, flexible platform and rapid turnaround time, with significantly lower carbon footprint and cost than conventional silicon foundries. Richard has over 25 years’ experience in the development and commercialisation of a wide-range of new technologies based on novel processes, materials and flexible electronics in academia and industry. He is inventor/co-inventor on 30+ patent families and a non-executive director at the Henry Royce Institute – the UK’s National Institute for advanced materials research.

Simplifying the IC Ecosystem

In this talk, Dr. Richard Price, CTO will discuss Pragmatic Semiconductor’s journey to develop its flexible integrated circuit (FlexIC) technology over the past 12 years, including how a relentless focus on simplification has resulted in the world’s most sustainable and fastest semiconductor manufacturing process. Richard will outline how Pragmatic is using this platform to simplify design by adopting agile sprint methodologies for product development, with the option for localized mass-scale production at customer sites through Pragmatic’s FlexLogIC modular manufacturing system. Finally, he will detail opportunities to integrate electronics into new applications and form-factors, including as part of flexible-hybrid electronic systems for healthcare and other markets.
