Ultra-Thin Supercapacitors Enable Micro Power Sources for Flexible Electronics

Ultra-thin flexible electronics, due to size and thickness constraints, can often only accommodate very low power energy sources such as small flexible organic solar cells or thin-film batteries which cannot provide the power needed to collect and transmit data. CAP-XX offers a thin, 0.4mm supercapacitor that is an ideal power buffer for these applications. This paper will review the properties of this supercapacitor, what the designer should be aware of, power design examples, and a case study with a flexible solar cell and a Bluetooth sensor.
